Taking a moment away from gaming and costumes, I must make a post about the most exciting thing to happen in music (for me) in years.

Today on his 66th birthday, David Bowie has released a new single and video for the first time in ten years.  “Where Are We Now?” is the title track from his new album The Next Day, which will release in the US on March 6.

Not only is this something I have wished for years to come true, but the new track sounds amazing.  Even just two days ago I mentioned how we would probably never get a new Bowie album or a last tour.  Most of the time rockers get old and they lose their edge, unable to write or perform great music.  Bowie still looks awesome, and sounds as good as ever.  I am truly ecstatic about this announcement, and eagerly await the release of the new album.

I remember when his last album, Reality, was released back in 2003 (the same year I graduated high school).  I thought then that it was crazy for a classic rocker to be able to still release such a great album at his age.  Not just a great song, but a completely great ALBUM.  And I’ve never heard a bad album from Bowie.

This is the only music release I’ve anticipated in a long time, and if a tour happens, I’m willing to shell out good money to see him live.
